Mosul, Bartella and Baadre
Mosul is the capital city of Nineveh and is the second biggest city in Iraq. ISIS occupied Mosul for over three years. During Mosul’s liberation from ISIS the city was destroyed. Most families returned back to a destroyed city and are now rebuilding their lives back. SDRE works with local community leaders, local NGOs and food distributors to provide aid to the local communities, develop strong and ongoing relationships, provide post-crisis workshops, and develop work programs that will help rebuild the communities after the crisis of recent years.
Sewing Classes for Widows
The sewing classes give the widows and poor women skills to work so they can have income and provide for their families. We provide all the women that graduate from our sewing courses with a sewing machine so they can start working from their homes. This program is run in Mosul and Bartella and we partner will local NGOs to select poor widows and do the training.
English Language Classes for young people
We teach young people both beginner and advanced language classes. The English language classes help the young people to be fluent in English which will help them get jobs that provide better income for their families.
Food Distribution to widows and poor families
Periodically we distribute food bags in Mosul and Bartella to poor widows who do not have access to help from government or other foreign organizations.
SHINE - Educational Program for Women
SHINE is a nine class program for women. In this education program we empower women to know their value as unique and wonderfully made women, we teach the value of others, the power of their choices, and their potential and purpose in their communities. We also train other NGOs to run this program. This program is run in Mosul and Baadre.
Suicide Awareness and Prevention
This educational program is a one day class for men and women. This class empowers communities to be aware of those at risk for suicide and to know how to help those with thoughts and plans for suicide. We train both communities and NGOs. This program is run in Bartella, Erbil and Duhok.
Trauma, Crisis, Grief & Resilience Program
This educational program is a one day class with ongoing education and training for men and women. In this class we help people understand trauma and grief. We teach tools that help them be resilient people who are able to go through a crisis and grow stronger because of it. We training both communities and NGOs. This program is run in Bartella, Erbil and Duhok .
Art Expression Therapy Program (Healing through Art)
This educational program is a one day class. We teach men and women that expressing their emotions, thoughts and beliefs through color, lines and imagination is powerful to bring new understanding and healing to their hearts and minds.
We provide NGO Training and ongoing programs for communities. This program is un in Bartella, Erbil and Duhok.
Cooking classes
This cooking project is aimed to help widows in Nineveh start their own small business from home to have an income to support their families. . SDRE provides cooking teachers who teach a series of classes for two months. In these classes the widows learn how to make Birthday Cakes, Pastries, etc… At the end of the cooking course, SDRE provides each widow with an oven so they can start cooking and producing enough to sell.We provide NGO Training and ongoing programs for communities. This program is un in Bartella, Erbil and Duhok.
Math and English Private Classes
SDRE support Math and English private classes for Ninth Grad students.
The Ninth grade in Iraq is the final exam and it is very important because the result from this exam determines their future education.
These private classes aim to help those students by giving them extra classes so they get better grades. Usually families have to pay for private teachers. We are providing these private classes to give families who can not afford them financially so the children get equal opportunities.
